My name is Jacob Wolverton and I was born and raised in Indiana. I have one older sister, Brooke, who is an active family doctor with a heart to go to other nations on medical mission trips. My parents live and work in West Lafayette, IN where they are both active members of their local church. I attended Benton Central Jr./Sr. High School in Oxford, Indiana from which I graduated in the year of 2000. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from St. Joseph’s College of Indiana as well as a Bachelor of Ministries degree from White Horse School of Ministry in West Lafayette, IN. I am compassionate about individuals learning and growing as musicians. I am a licensed teacher in the State of Indiana in K-12 general/vocal music education. I believe that it is important for individuals to become life-long-learners. I have many years of experience in teaching private voice & piano as well as working with vocal & instrumental ensembles.
I have a vast background of experiences that have helped shape me into the educator and musician that I am today. My experiences as an intern at White Horse Christian Center have allowed me the opportunity to travel both nationally and internationally as a worship leader, musician, teacher, and minister. I have extensive training and experience in leading both contemporary and traditional worship services for congregations ranging in size from 25 to 800 members.
I am currently the Assistant Director of Music for the congregation of Plainfield United Methodist Church in Plainfield, IN. I am also the choral assistant at Avon Middle School South in Avon, IN.
I am an active private voice, piano, and saxophone instructor in the Plainfield/Indianapolis, IN area. I have held performance roles in musicals, operas, cantatas, and ensembles throughout my musical career which include top ensembles at both Ball State University and St. Joseph’s College. It is my desire to continue my role as an educator and advocate for music education in the communities that I live and travel to.
